The rich and famous are always coming up with new – and sometimes bizarre – ways to better their lifestyles, their looks and their mental being. This time it is veganism they have set their eyes on; one celeb after the other is now living the vegan lifestyle.
I salute them. They have made the conscious (well, most of them that is) decision to turn their hectic lives upside down, to do what is right for our future…Well, ..and for their own appearance and mental health.

10. Ariana Grande
Millennial megastars like Ariana Grande are spreading the message of conscious eating far and wide to their legions of fans. Ariana decided to go vegan after seeing the influential documentary “Forks Over Knives”.
“I love animals more than I love most people, not kidding. But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person.”
9. Liam Hemsworth
Liam decided to make the switch to veganism in early 2015 after he learned about the mistreatment of animals. “The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do” of eating meat.
His Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson suggested to try a vegan diet. Within a few months, Hemsworth was sold. “There are no negatives to eating like this. I feel nothing but positive, mentally and physically. I love it.”
8. Kirsten Bell
Kristen Bell wants her children to be kind to animals as she learned to be from a young age. As a child, she began her vegetarian journey. She couldn’t bear the thought of eating the animals she so dearly loved.
She made the complete switch to a vegan lifestyle when she decided to breastfeed. She wanted to ensure she was getting enough calories to keep her and her baby healthy.
7. Natalie Portman
As well as caring about animals and stuff, Natalie Portman maintains a plant-based diet because of her gorgeous skin, “I’m vegan and I drink a lot of water. If I have dairy I immediately break out.”
Portman even had a vegan wedding. Today, both Natalie Portman and her husband live a fully vegan lifestyle and support others who feel the same.
“Everyone has to find what is right for them, and it is different for everyone. Eating for me is how you proclaim your beliefs three times a day. That is why all religions have rules about eating. Three times a day, I remind myself that I value life and do not want to cause pain to or kill other living beings. That is why I eat the way I do.”
6. Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood is extremely vocal about her vegan ways. She makes it known that she has been a vegetarian from early on in her childhood. Carrie Underwood originally became a vegetarian due to her intense love for animals. She couldn’t bear the thought of the torture they had to undergo to become food.
She now follows a strict vegan diet. Although, she does admit it is difficult to follow being on tour or traveling the world. Underwood continues to follow this lifestyle, claiming the physical and mental benefits are amazing. Underwood loves how she feels, looks, and the overall affect a vegan diet has had on her lifestyle.
5. Emily Deschanel
Bones’ TV-star (and sister of actress Zooey Deschanel) Emily Deschanel had been a vegetarian for years before turning into a vegan. She is a strong ambassador of animal rights issues and uses her stardom to inform people about the numerous benefits of veganism.
For Emily, there is no other way than to live a vegan lifestyle. “People don’t think about how each of these animals that we call dinner have the same kinds of personalities as our dogs and cats.”

While on a movie set with fellow vegan, Alicia Silverstone, Olivia Wilde learned a lot about veganism and now attributes much of her vegan success and easy transition to her friend Alicia Silverstone.
The gorgeous Olivia Wilde credits her vegan diet for her looks (beauty, body and skin). According to Wilde, it’s all thanks to being a vegan.
3. Ellen DeGeneres
Award-winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres became a vegan because she loved animals so much. She uses her show as a platform to bring awareness to a mainstream audience. On her show, she spreads her love of animals and tells the world how embracing the vegan lifestyle has had a positive impact on her life.
Ellen and her wife, Porta de Rossi are both adamant vegans. They have even got their own personal vegan chef. For those without a chef at home, or at least a professional one, Ellen has developed a section named ‘Going Vegan with Ellen’ on the show’s website to making the transition to eating vegan a little easier.
2. Alicia Silverstone
Vegan since 1998, Alicia Silverstone is one of the most well-known animal activists of all time. She proudly states her position on living a vegan lifestyle and is against animal cruelty. After publishing a vegan cookbook ´The Kind Life´ in 2009, Silverstone launched her website, thekindlife.com which is completely based on vegetarianism and veganism.
Alicia Silverstone says she felt better than ever after turning vegan. “Once I went vegan, I lost the weight I wanted to lose, my nails were stronger, and my skin was glowing. I feel great and I look better now than I did 11 years ago,” she said.
1. Joaquin Phoenix
Widely known for his animal rights advocacy, the Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix became vegan at the age of 3, when he went fishing with his siblings. 3-years-old!
Joaquin is an active ambassador of In Defense of Animals and for animal cruelty prevention charity, PETA, bringing awareness about retail corporation Walmart and their support of pig cruelty and China’s brutal dog-leather industry. This vegan superhero is the voice of Earthlings, receiving the Humanitarian Award for his narration and contribution to the documentary.
He’s also responsible for converting our number 3, DeGeneres, and many of us over to veganism with his powerful narration of the documentary film Earthlings.
