09 Aug One Slutty Vegan Coming Right Up!
Slutty Vegan does not sound like a name that one would give to a business that they expect to excel. But this was Pinky Cole’s idea and she went for it. Since opening up her Slutty Vegan restaurant, the name has actually proved to be more beneficial than destructive. Thought to be doomed to fail from the beginning, this vegan restaurant is just taking off in the right trajectory.
Slutty Vegan started by selling burgers made from Impossible Meat patties through an app. Afterwards the restaurant ventured into a Slutty Vegan food truck and then a burger stand in the great neighborhood of Atlanta. You can find people standing in line for two to three hours just to get a piece of the Slutty Vegan burgers.
Slutty Vegan Menu
As expected, the Slutty Vegan menu features burgers with similar unconventional names like;
- The Sloppy Toppy
- The Ménage a Trois
These two burgers are soy burgers served with a side of crinkle-cut fries dusted in Old Bay seasoning.
The other popular burger on the Slutty Vegan menu is ‘The One Night Stand’. This burger is a mess of a burger on a soft Hawaiian-style bun. Why is it so popular?
It has some slices of vegan bacon and fake cheese on an Impossible Foods patty. It also has a pile of caramelized onions, some tomato slices and chopped lettuce. The finishing of the burger is made of two generous squirts of sauce, one being red with the tang of vinegar and the other is orange with a taste similar to Thousand Island’s thinner.
The Slutty Vegan popularity has received a major boost from the fact that it has many African-American celebrities among its fans. Some of the celebrities are Jermaine Dupri, Lil Baby, Snoop Dogg, Tyler Perry, and Tiffany Haddish among many others. According to these celebrities, they have been ‘sluttified’ by Slutty Vegan. Such loyalty from celebrities has driven their Instagram following to about a quarter of a million followers.
Pinky Cole, Slutty Vegan’s founder is riding on the black vegan movement which has been led by chefs and stars who have replaced their animal diets with vegan diets due to environmental health and humane causes.
When people think about vegan food, they have a perception that vegan diets are boring, fresh and clean. Though there is nothing wrong with these perceptions, Slutty Vegan is trying to change the narrative about vegan diets.
Slutty Vegan has risen swiftly. Five months after opening a food truck, Cole opened a restaurant that attends to at least 800 customers every day. Slutty vegan has become a star in its own right.
Slutty Vegan is not just selling burgers they are selling an experience that people are willing to stand in line for two to three hours as they wait to be served. And even after that, a person can only buy two burgers. This should get you excited to try out the Slutty Vegan if you find yourself in Atlanta.
